At Aluminum Wire Repair, Inc., we specialize in the COPALUM technique—a trusted and industry-proven method for safely repairing aluminum wiring in homes. This innovative process creates secure, permanently repaired connections, completely reducing the risks associated with aging aluminum wiring. Our highly experienced team of electricians is dedicated to enhancing the safety and performance of your electrical system, ensuring that your home meets modern code and safety standards and provides peace of mind for you and your family.
COPALUM™ Crimping every connection in your home is the preferred and most effective permanent solution for repairing aluminum wiring.
All existing aluminum connections will be permanently “pigtailed” to copper wire.
The resulting connections mitigate the problems associated with aluminum wiring and are maintenance-free.
Brand new devices will replace all existing switches and outlets.
This is how we mitigate the dangers of aluminum wiring.
We start out by removing the old devices in preparation to crimp copper onto the existing aluminum branch circuit.
Then we use a full compression crimp connection called a COPALUM™ crimp made by AMP Incorporated (a division of TYCO) to permanently solve the aluminum issues.
Similar to the outlet above, each switch, outlet, light, and other device is either restored to its original position or replaced with a new device if the existing one fails to meet National Electrical Code.
The COPALUM™ Crimp repair consists of attaching (pigtailing) a piece of copper wire to the existing branch circuit made of aluminum wire. These connections use a compression tool to fix the crimp. This process squeezes the conductor metal through small holes, breaking down the oxidation layer and sealing the internal metal from any further oxygen contact.
COPALUM™ crimping is the only method considered a permanent repair by the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) when applied to every aluminum electrical connection.
We have now severed the crimp to demonstrate the behavior of the crimped aluminum and copper wires. The aluminum wire is now cold-welded to the copper wire, creating a single wire that mitigates fire hazards effectively.
This is the primary reason that COPALUM™ crimping is considered a permanent repair.
Feel confident that you’re getting the best permanent repair when choosing the COPALUM method with Aluminum Wire Repair, Inc.!
